I have been an environmentalist, educator, and organic gardener-on both coasts- for over 30 years. I served on the Environmental Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, where I chaired the subcommittee on pesticide use, and I received an Award of Merit from the American Rose Society for my writing on organic gardening. I wrote the garden column for Dan’s Papers in the Hamptons and I’ve written for The Nation Magazine, New York Newsday, Film Comment, and Fine Gardening Magazine. I have taught at New York University, and at Stanford, where I also served as University Ombudsman. I have given classes at The New York Botanical Garden and Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and I have lectured for garden clubs and organizations in the tri-state area.
